Looking for pics to illustrate how old all of my favourite clothes are, I found this picture of Tatjana Patitz, she was always my favourite of the supers, I loved her fine features and feline eyes. The polar opposite of me, but I decided on Friday I might try out this hairstyle.
Tatjana got her cut on the beach...
I started mine in the bathroom in London (no pics and no light) the scissors were the ones that I use for Christmas wrap and even my impatience told me to stop and wait.
The coiffure continued at the cottage...
I needed pics to see how the back was going, err not great...
Emboldened by the cutting prowess I decided to tackle the topiary, I balanced the balls...
To round perfection...
Unruly boxes and firs...
Pooped pooches resting after all the exertion....
The workers needed the traditional fare, PG Tips, digestives and dark chocolate...
Family sized of course....
And back to more tidying...
Alexandra has a thousand abbreviations, one of my Scottish friends christened me Xandy (pronounced Sandy)...Sandy Scissor hands...
Love the haircut. Claudia was always my favourite super but Tatjana had the best hair. I love tea and digestives. In Canada, we ply our workers with double double coffee and donut holes. Not nearly as civilized!
ReplyDeleteshe was lovely, I did a post using pics, from the first shoot that she ever did for British Vogue, just like Brigitte Bardot.
DeleteLove Tatjana. But did you cut your hair with regular straight scissors?! I use thinning ones as they are so much more forgiving but it still looks good! I gave myself a trim last month bc sitting at the hairdressers bores me to tears!
ReplyDeletei used blunt ones for the first cut going form long to shoulder length. This was the 'second' cut using the dogs grooming scissors.
DeleteYou brave woman. I'd love to go shorter, but the thoughts of not being able to scrap my hair off my face and into a knot is too much for me to bear :) The cut looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBonnie
i can still just about put it up in a pony tail, I would go shorter, but agree, it's nice to get it right off your face
DeleteBrave, very brave! I would never dare to touch my hair with a scissors. But my goodness, you did a good job! And your topiaries are exemplary .. a whole new career perhaps?!
ReplyDeleteyes I would love to be just like Rosemary and Thyme, but not sure how good at solving murders I would be!
DeleteI LOVE what you have done with your hair. You are SO brave to attempt it yourself. Not sure I would have been so brave ;-)
ReplyDeletebrave or stupid! The hair in Seville was pretty spectacular, it was like being in a Pantene ad 24 hours a day, not sure I would be so brave if I lived in your neck of the woods!
DeleteOMG! I cut my own hair too but you are a genius at it! And the topiary, I've been saying for the last month that I can't get the topiary balls to look like topiary any more - please come round!
ReplyDeleteOk I have flipping well not saved your mail address but all is set, 5pm, at 'hotel last blogged about" shhhh about the date but rail me to confirm - so exciting!
I am so excited, I will email nearer the time to make sure that all is well
DeleteOh I remember that shoot of Tatjana having her locks cut on the beach like yesterday...gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour new do looks so lively and effervescent! I too loath going to the hairdressers with a passion and wasting a whole day on cut and colour. I once saw a demonstration in Paris, where a hairdresser made one single cut with sharpened garden shears through a pony tail held up on top of a girls head. The resulting cut was spectacular, as her hair simply fell down round her face in a perfect stunning cut. Hair topiary!
ha! It make the £200 hair cut a bit of a joke if garden shears can do the trick. Perhaps I should give that a try next time!
DeleteOh gosh - you were brave! My sister does it all the time - cut her own hair and i have no idea how she does it. And that was a real blast from the past - I remember that feature with Tatjana in it and thought it was amazing - but with a face like hers, you could do anything with her hair!
ReplyDeleteAnd I was waiting for you to say, you did the topiary, the boxes and then the next picture was the dogs .... phew, they had a lucky escape!
I just found this!!!! I love the haircut. Beautiful! I remember reading once that Raquel Welch preferred to cut her hair herself. She felt like her instincts guided her....something like that. Fantastic xo
