My Spring Summer 14.....

It's been a while since I have seen a 'look' that has really appealed to me in fashion.  I know that I am out of date, but was finding it pretty hard to relate to all the sharp lines and masculine looks that have been around lately, and then I saw this ad shot by Matches and just loved it immediately.

The coat is Sonia Rykiel (over £1500) and the dress doesn't seem to be online yet, I know it is Dolce e Gabanna and probably costs near £1000 if not more.

However I have improvised and found this great dress for 50 quid.....
And this one (pure silk) for £70....
This coat £60.....

And this coat from Ebay for £15 (I have a dress maker to change the collar for £20)
The only thing I am contemplating splashing out on are these shoes, anything girlie on my feet and would perhaps be a little too princess-like, but a Rockstud (from Bicester) would be just on the rightside of rock and roll....

What looks are you thinking about for SS14? Are you making do? Splashing out? Or a bit of both?

  1. This looks more like your style ......very elegant but individual.

  2. I love those dresses. So feminine for spring. I keep wavering over whether a pair of rockstuds should be mine. They are so pretty with that great hint of edge.

    1. When they are in stock at Bicester they are at £350, which is cheaper than I have seen on-line, I haven't tried them on yet as I don't want to burst the bubble in my mind of how I imagine they SHOULD look!

  3. You are an absolute star! You know I've worm my rock studs twice, I don't know why I buy fancy shoes, I no longer have the life that goes with them. I haven't seen anything I like yet, I'd like a few easy throw on dresses that can be dressed up if that lone bugle to a night out ever sounds.

    1. I'm not sure I could manage a whole day in the office in them, and they have that super thick pile carpet in the shop, so you never know what they will really feel like on.

    1. I quite like that the dresses are an 'homage' rather than trying to be actual copies. I like to keep my shoes and bags the real deal!

  5. Love your picks - funnily this is exactly the way i have been going recently - i never related to the boxy philo-esque look - i have the rockstuds too and have to confess to never wearing them - however have the rockstud flat glad and have worn them in summer to death - literally - they are the perfect match to the feminine trend - i have them in a dark colour and i think had i gone for light esp nude i would have worn them a lot more

    1. the flats could be a good idea, I went to Bicester yesterday to try them to see if I could fit my bunions into this style, but they didn't have them, only the really flat pointy ones which looked very uncomfortable. Annoyingly all of shoes were down to £200, but I'm going to wait it out and get the ones I want, otherwise I will always hanker after them.

    1. It's an online find, so you never quite know what you are going to get!

  7. Beautiful spring finds. I keep saying to myself... "once I lose that last 20 pounds, I'll start looking at new clothes". I'm salivating over Valentino this spring !

    1. Don't wait to lose 20 lbs, buy stuff that you love now and the weight will come off! I have a beautiful pink coat in a size 16 (I think that is a US 12 or 14), it has been in my wardrobe since my larger days. Now I have the new one, I won't wear it, if you want it, leave me a comment and I will send it to you. It has only been worn about 3 times and is lovely soft bright pink wool.
